Restroom Cleaning Procedure
Cleaning a bathroom might not be fun, but it's also not a difficult process. Any of your employees can be quickly trained to become proficient at this task. Here's the standard method for cleaning a restaurant bathroom:
1. Make sure the area is unoccupied. Identify yourself as an employee and allow customers time to complete their visit. Once the room is clear, place the caution or cleaning sign in the door way to prevent intrusions. If this is the only bathroom in the facility, it may be necessary to allow patrons in and out around your cleaning.
2. Dust off the surfaces, knocking loose debris onto the floor.
3. Sweep the bathroom floor free of the debris, and change all the trash receptacles.
4. Clean and fill any dispensers in the room, like soap or paper towels. Find all your restroom accessories for this job at US Foods Culinary Equipment and Supplies.
5. Clean the toilet stall areas and any other similar areas. Use your disinfectant cleaners and brushes.
6. Repeat for the sink and mirrors.
7. Sweep the floor again, if necessary, and then wet mop the area using a floor cleaning solution.
8. Take a look around, make sure the room is clean, and then reopen if necessary. Return equipment to a storage area.
For an average sized bathroom, this process can be done by one person. For larger bathrooms, you may want to assign two people to the job.
